Our Facilities

Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)

Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) coupled with head-space and automatic sampler. It is used for the analysis of VOCs, SVOCs, drug analysis and environmental contamination identification.

Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES)

Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES). With the high plasma temperature of 10,000K, it is able to perform identification and quantification of multiple trace metallic elements simultaneously in a single run.

Ionic Chromatography (IC)

Ionic Chromatography is able to measure anionic compounds such as F, Cl, SO4, NO2, NO3, Br, PO4 in ppm and ppb level.

Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption (GFAA)

Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption (GFAA) provides a complete atomization of the entire sample by employing an electrically heated graphite tube. Sensitivity and detection limits are significantly improved. It can detect metallic elements in low ppb level.

Mercury Analyser

With the Mercury analyser, no chemical sample pretreatment is needed for solid samples, hence will prevent loss of analyte and give a better detection of total mercury in sample. For liquid sample, the Hg content is determined by Reducing Vaporization method, an additional device that attached with main instrument.

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) coupled with auto-sampler usually use in the analysis of pharmaceutical products, food products (e.g. preservatives , vitamins, anti-oxidants) as well as environmental samples.

Microwave Digester

Microwave Sample Preparation system is able to provide high performance for a wide range of digestion needs and also to prevent loss and contamination to analyte before subject for trace metals analysis.

Total Organic Carbon (TOC)

Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyser coupled with Combustion & Wet Oxidation Mode. For determination of Total Organic carbon and Inorganic Carbon in Water and Sludge samples.

Capillary Electrophoresis (CE)

Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) – besides using it for the determination of anions and cations, it is also used in pharmaceutical analysis of drugs and related compounds.

Gas Chromatography (GC – FID / NPD / ECD)

Gas Chromatography (GC) – a common technique use in analyzing organic compounds for environmental / food and pharmaceutical samples. Our GCs are equipped with different types of detectors like

  • Flame Ionization Detector (FID) which is mainly used for detecting hydrocarbon like Methane, Alcohol etc.
  • Electron Captured Detector (ECD) is especially sensitive for Organochlorine pesticides, PCBs etc
  • Nitrogen Phosphorus Detector (NPD) is selective to volatile Sulphur & Organophosphorus pesticides.

Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC)

Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) is an alternative and advance technique to conventional HPLC; it is able to produce results in much shorter time and with good sensitivity. Its application is in pharmaceutical, food and environmental products.

Microplate Photometer

It is used to detect biological & chemical events of samples in microtiter plates, e.g ELISA assays, Endotoxins etc.

Isokinetic Source Sampler

The word “isokinetic” comprises of two Greek root words “iso” meaning “the same as” and “kinetic” meaning “relating the motion of materials bodies”. Isokinetic sampling is therefore the extraction of a gas sample from a gas stream at the same velocity as the gas travels in the stack. Parameters of interest may include particulate matter, metals, halogen gases and dioxins/furans.

High Volume Air Sampler

High volume air samplers are used for the collection of airborne particulate matter in ambient air.  They are available for the collection of Total Suspended particulates (TSP), particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of less than 10µm (PM10) and particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of less than 2.5µm (PM2.5).

Sound Level Meter

A sound level meter is a measuring instrument used to assess noise or sound levels by measuring sound pressure. A sound level meter uses a microphone to capture sound. The sound is then evaluated within the device and acoustic measurement values are displayed. The sound level meter devices determine the equivalent continuous sound level (Leq), the maximum value (Lmax), the minimum value (Lmin) and Peak levels.

Noise dosimeter is an instrument that integrates a function of sound pressure over a period of time in such a manner that it directly indicates a noise dose.

Personal Air Sampling Pump

A mechanical, battery-operated device that is used to draw air through specific collection media (filter or sorbent tube) in order to collect a representative sample of airborne contaminant(s) in the work environment.

Flue Gas Analyzer

Flue Gas Analyzer draws a sample of the flue gases from the duct using a built-in gas pump through a probe. The gas is cleaned and dried using a condensate separator with built-in filter and analyzes the extracted gas with electro-chemical sensors. The flue gas analyzer is used to measure toxic gases like carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxide (NO), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) and Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S).

VOC Analyzer

VOC Analyzer monitors Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) using a Photo-Ionization Detector (PID). As the organic vapors pass the lamp, they are photo-ionized and the ejected electrons are detected as a current. The PID sensor with a standard 10.6 eV lamp detects a broad range of organic vapors. A lamp with high photon energy (e.g. 11.7 eV) will be able to measure more kinds of compounds, whereas low photon energy (e.g. 9.8 eV) are selective for easily ionizable compounds such as aromatic. In principle, any compound with ionization lower that that lamp photons can be measured.
